Be Vang Description:
Two big thoroughfares in District 4, Khanh Hoi and Hoang Dieu, meet at right angles at a major intersection. These roads and the intersection take half of the traffic that ventures into the city from Saigon South over the Ong Lanh Bridge into District 1 and the downtown area.
In a rectangular area back from the intersection, formed on two sides by these two streets, about 500 metres by 200m, there is a veritable rabbit warren of small Vietnamese eateries.
Quan Be Vang - Golden Veal Restaurant - is one of these.
It specialises in veal meat, as the name suggests, but typically for Vietnam, you can get just about any kind of meat and seafood dishes here as well. On the house business card and advertising, the place is said to have 'be thui' as its speciality: a kind of smoked veal meat, pink in colour like Western ham, and having the same soft greyish-pink-coloured (no Munsell colour chart available, sorry) skin as our leg ham has.
Has ground floor, seating about 40 people including footpath, and an upstairs deck in addition to that.
