This 24-hour breakfast and American food place is quite popular - there's often a wait for a table at breakfast.

Their pancakes (the main attraction here) come with lillikoi (passionfruit) and coconut syrup. If you're enamoured with the syrups, you can buy a bottle at the front to take home with you.
One of Hilo's favorites, Ken's has been going for 30-plus years and is one of the few places on the island where you can eat around the clock. It looks like a chain coffee shop, with vinyl booths and plastic menus; the service is friendly, the food all right. Great for families, Ken's is nearly always crowded, at least during the day. The menu includes fresh saimin, egg dishes, signature pancakes (macadamia nut or coconut), burgers and sandwiches.
