Coast Grille Description:
This high-ceilinged, circular open-air restaurant at the Hapuna Prince offers dishes that are best sampled on the wraparound terrace with its stunning ocean views. (Don't worry about the cool trade winds: The manager will happily hand you a tablecloth that you can use as a shawl.) Start with oysters, steamed clams or poke---that Island favorite made of chopped raw fish, seaweed and seasonings. We also recommend seafood entrées such as local opah (moon fish) in cardamom sauce or lobster in tempura. The lobster is from New England, but acclimatizes to Hawaiian ways in a local aquaculture facility. Make sure to order a glass of wine from the extensive list. Finish off the evening with warm Valrhona chocolate cake.
