Charlies Seafood Description:
As the story goes, chef Frank Brigtsen, a native of Harahan where Charlie's is located, drove past the shuttered place every day until he just decided he had to bring it back to life. Together with his wife and business partner, Marna, Brigtsen renovated the tiny old building and re-opened it. Brigtsen, who owns the upscale Brigtsen's uptown, made a wise decision to restore the interior and the menu offerings to what they had been all along. That means fried, broiled or grilled seafood platters, stuffed crabs, gumbos, catfish and grits, shrimp étouffée and all the local favorites. The place is packed for lunch, but things move swiftly and you will not have to wait long. The aromas are intoxicating, as are the gregarious personalities of the owners.
