Colleen's Cannery Pizza and Sub Description:
High-beamed ceilings, dark post-modern furniture, lush palm trees and large Art Deco mirrors create a glamorous yet unpretentious 1940s, old Hollywood vibe at this upcountry bistro. Service is casual and friendly, with the focus on Colleen's fresh-baked goods and eclectic menu items. Breakfast features the usual pancake and egg suspects but with sophisticated touches like the portobello mushroom, goat cheese, sun-dried tomato and caramelized onion omelet. Lunch and dinner get notably more varied and seafood-forward. We recommend the roasted beet salad with organic mixed greens, Kamuela tomatoes, feta cheese, red onion, shredded carrots and balsamic vinaigrette, or the grilled ono-and-avocado wrap with a tangy pesto and mango-red chili dressing for lunch. There are also pizzas and pepper-crusted mahi or ono burgers for lunch and dinner, as well as a bacon and blue cheese burger with Maui Cattle Co. hormone-free beef. Dinner features beer-battered fish 'n' chips with mahi mahi, ahi ceviche, sautéed beef tenderloin salad and pastas, like the vodka penne and shrimp scampi fettuccine, as well as a limited but choice selection of wines and local beers on tap.
