Bistro Monet Description:
Classic French Cuisine. Fine dining atmosphere. Located in downtown Glen Ellyn Illinois, in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Used to be Les Deux Autes.
Chef-owner Michel Saragueta opened this quaint French bistro on the coattails of a brief stint cooking at Oak Park's now-shuttered Café le Coq. He well deserves to be on his own, though, because his full-flavored cooking shines as brightly as his classic training shows. Located in the former home of Les Deux Autre and Les Deux Gros, this oak-paneled space looks virtually the same (read: elegant). We recommend the sharable short rib ravioli with robust wild mushroom-Madeira cream sauce and think the French onion soup is respectable, too. Among entrées, the pan-seared, phyllo-wrapped salmon is king with Chablis beurre blanc. For dessert, nosh on the three-chocolate soufflé while taking in French café tunes. There's an appealing, French-heavy, affordable wine list.
