La Piazza Description:
If you're one of the Fort Worth regulars who frequent this smartly decorated little hideaway in a shopping center, you'll likely be greeted by name and escorted to your favorite table by affable host and owner Vito Ciraco. But even if it's your first time at La Piazza, Ciraco will give you a melodious Italian welcome. The dining room, outfitted with rough wood trim and rose bouquet wallpaper, is warmly alluring with damask tablecloths pressed to a sheen and pretty flatware replenished from a silver tray. Insalata del maestro tosses romaine and arugula with tomatoes, croutons and capers in a Caesar dressing that whispers anchovy. The steaming risotto mare gives off a woodsy mushroom scent that envelops the bountiful assortment of calamari, squid, clams, shrimp and fish. Meat dishes, such as the vitello pizzaiola---or veal scallopines---served in a tomato and caper sauce, prevail. Service is gracious and the Italian-dominated wine list offers a number of reasonably priced reserves. When the Texas heat tones down, La Piazza's private courtyard is heavenly.
