Hilltop Inn Description:
A former stagecoach stop in the Ohio River city that opened in 1837, restaurant has been noted in national news concerning deep-fried cow brain sandwiches. Battered with egg, seasoning and flour, it puffs up when cooked. Served hot, heaping outside the bun. Served on Tuesdays, photo on right linked from NBC Web site. The brain sandwiches are a delicacy passed down through the generations from German ancestors. For the less daring, there is the traditional fried fish, fried bologna, salad bar, steaks, chicken, seafood entrees and other choices. Open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner. No reservations accepted on Friday or Saturday evening.
