Orchard St Chop Shop Description:
This is a steakhouse to be sure; the downstairs, more formal dining room is elegant and subdued for special occasions. But the upstairs Top of the Chop goes a bit wild. It sports a swank lounge, entertainment and the option of a casual, rustic menu. Both offer USDA Prime grade beef, aged in house. Sides are here too, but they've got some jazz to them. Choose smoked carrots drenched in pecan butter, blackened asparagus and the creamed spinach touched with hot sauce. Try the one-pound Delmonico---best with house-made Worcestershire or super-smooth béarnaise---and the tangy tournedos of beef encrusted with blue cheese. Châteaubriand is served tableside as is traditional and the menu includes some more exotic fare. Game-like elk and pheasant make for nice departures as well. Top it off with chocolate and raspberry mascarpone cannoli. Upstairs, the more casual Top of the Chop offers a bar menu and a chance to sample rum from chef Chris Kozlowski's collection; there's also a clubby pool parlor in back for after-cigar games.
