RIS Description:
At long last, Ris Lacoste, formerly executive chef of 1789 Restaurant, has opened her own restaurant, featuring creative American comfort food. The ideal go-to eatery in the West End, RIS may come across as an exclusive setting, but Lacoste herself sees this place as the ultimate in neighborhood drop-in places, ideal for a cup of coffee while working on a computer, after-work drinks with chums, and fancier dinner parties in one of the private rooms. (Note that despite the casual approach, proper attire is required so don't plan to straggle in with sweats on.) Although the emphasis is on familiar eating, don't be fooled into thinking that there's anything simple about a Lacoste chicken potpie or a serving of tender pappardelle paired with a seasonal add-on such as roasted chestnuts. The kitchen also turns out a braised lamb shank and a cheeseburger. Many of the desserts have that homemade touch, including the butterscotch pudding, though the passion fruit cheesecake is decidedly more epicurean. Take-out and breakfast menus are in the cards, making RIS an all-day eat-in, sit-down kind of place.
