You'll encounter an old-time Detroit experience here, from the wall-size black-and-white photos of the city to the ornate wood bar and hardwood floors. The menu follows suit to serve classics, including the famed Maurice salad: sliced Black Forest ham, smoked turkey and Swiss cheese tossed in homemade house dressing on shredded lettuce with sliced eggs, cherry peppers, green onions and sweet gherkins. But the Detroit beer cheese soup, brewmaster's shepherd's pie and blackened catfish are nothing to scoff at. Seasonal beers are on the menu, along with house specialties such as Detroit Lager, Steam Tunnel Stout and People Mover Porter. On a sunny day, sit outside and enjoy a brewski. The place opens at 10 a.m. on Detroit Lions' game days.
