Cheli's Chili Bar & Restaurant Description:
Owned by Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios, Cheli's is standing-room-only when the Tigers play at Comerica Park just a short hockey slap shot from the front door. Patrons can watch games on one of 30-plus TVs between glances at Detroit sports scene photos on the century-old building's original brick walls. The specialty here is Chelios' own tomato-based chili recipe---beef, veggie or chicken---in a cup or bowl. Pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches are paired with just the right amount of barbecue sauce and come with signature waffle fries. The fried calamari is served mild or spicy. Or, you can pick from beef or turkey burgers or salmon on a Kaiser roll. They're all winners here. On game days, there's also a shuttle to the Joe Louis Arena where the Red Wings play.
