Pegasus Taverna Description:
Detroit's Greektown is one of the few places where people can dine after midnight---well after midnight, as a matter of fact. This spot, marking more than two decades on the scene, serves until 1 a.m. Sunday thru Thursday, and until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. A perennially popular appetizer is flaming cheese, served to shouts of "Opa!" by servers as it is lit. The menu also features numerous lamb dishes, from a roasted and sliced number to one simmered in tomato sauce. You'll also find spaghetti accompanied by marinated chops. Vegetarians do very well here, too; there are spinach pies, moussaka, baked macaroni, meatless grape leaves and a number of fresh salads, including the notable Greek salad topped with feta cheese, beets, olives and hot peppers. Portions are large and many dishes are good for a group. Combination platters give a fine introduction to the fare, which is served a mere poker chip's toss from the Greektown Casino.
