Cuisine features contemporary French-American "cuisine" and classic French desserts.
Entertainment is offered on selected nights along with theater packages. Thursday evenings are jazz, and opera events are also packaged on selected dates.
Opens for special group reservations for lunch.
Paul Grosz, former chef at The Whitney, is now the chef-proprietor of his own restaurant in a 1920s vintage house that's located in the shadow of Detroit's Art Deco gem, the Fisher Building. Grosz trained at Le Français in Wheeling, Ill., under the legendary Jean Banchet, and spent several years at the Hyatt Regency before his ten-year stint at The Whitney. In keeping with the French direction of the menu, the house was renovated with a sunny yellow and bright blue color scheme; polished wood and expanses of mirror give it a decidedly upbeat feeling. Dishes typifying Cuisine's style include duck breast, roasted Alaskan halibut with scallion juice over watercress with asparagus custard as well as beef tenderloin with roasted salsify, potato salad and green beans. Dine à la carte or choose one of several progressive dinners.
