Caucus Club Description:
This downtown spot is the place where a gangly and untried Barbra Streisand got her break as a singer. Expect a dark and clubby vibe with copper and brass duck presses, stained glass panels and the feeling of a private enclave. The restaurant still serves its classic menu of London broil, baby-back ribs, perch, Dover sole and steak tartare accompanied by very good cocktails and wines from a fine cellar. Chef Marco Yannes oversees the preparations right down to the Gold Brick sundae dessert. Though it has been somewhat eclipsed by glossier restaurants, this place remains a haven for those who like the traditional approach, good service and sense of Detroit history.
