Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q Description:
In 1925, Bob Gibson nailed oak planks to a large sycamore in his backyard and started serving up barbecue. Members of the family are still treating Decatur diners to 'cue, and now there are options. Part of the fun is choosing from several bottles on the table and saucing the meat as you like. White sauce flecked with pepper is in the lineup and is surprisingly tasty on pulled pork, but has a variety of other applications as well, especially on barbecued chicken, for which it was originally designed. Other sauces include a tangy red sauce, a peppery vinegar sauce and a mustard-based sauce. A dry rub also is available. Creamy potato salad is offered, in addition to the usual sides of slaw, baked beans and potato chips. Smoked turkey and salads are good for those watching waistlines. No alcohol is served.
