Banana Leaf Description:
Banana Leaf is one of those unique finds. The décor, done up in strange shades of green and coral, also sports a big screen TV, which seems oddly out of place, but walk past it and you'll be rewarded with some good Thai food. Spice fans will like the tiger cry, a slab of grilled sirloin served with a killer Thai hot sauce that would likely bring tears to a tiger's eyes. The fish cake appetizer, dense, chewy discs of fried fish seasoned with red curry and paired with a cooling cucumber dipping sauce, is a joy. Pan-fried spicy basil noodles, though not overly spicy, are made with flat rice noodles, chopped eggs, fresh basil leaves and your choice of meat. Servers are patient and knowledgeable about the food, and the kitchen is happy to substitute tofu for meat in the majority of dishes.
