In a restored 1940s estate home, Hacienda on Henderson serves an inviting mix of traditional Tex-Mex alongside authentic family dishes steeped in locally fresh ingredients. Its goal is to create the warm, comfortable environment of home while providing a high-energy menu and staff to awaken the senses. With the exception of a few glitches in service, the restaurant succeeds. The restaurant's most notable feature is the 2,000-square-foot dining patio, complete with a Mexican tile fountain and lush, tropical plants. Here, there is plenty of room to enjoy a nice meal and one of many signature drinks. House-infused tequilas---jalapeño, habanero, pineapple or strawberry, for example---provide the kick in many of the specialty margaritas. A big draw is the $5 margarita. The menu delivers successful favorites such as taqueria-style tacos, carnitas and braised short ribs, with some of the best Spanish rice this side of the border. As a dining and nightclub experience, Hacienda on Henderson is a cool destination with live music, a huge specialty drink and beer selection and a late-night taco menu.
