Kent Rathbun of Abacus and Jasper's fame doesn't disappoint with his more accessible concept of gourmet comfort cuisine. With his most moderately priced restaurant yet, Rathbun seeks to bring the taste of traditional family meals into the realm of epicurean cooking. Blue Plate's interior is upscale without being pretentious or fussy. Standout dishes come in the form of tasso ham-roasted corn biscuits with smoky rock shrimp gravy, ahi sliders and rotisserie chicken mopped with Dr. Pepper sauce. The large menu is accompanied by a surprisingly extensive "vineyard" list, and the restaurant is well-suited to host private parties.
