The décor here is elegant with a contemporary edge and Indian furnishings: an Indian tribal art mural, Indian flag and statues of Buddha, Ganesh and Laxmi. High gloss ebonized maple floors, African anigre wood, chrome, black dining tables and striking white banquettes further the modern feel. Named after one of the popular herbs and spices used in Indian dishes, Cumin has a tempting menu and live music every night from 7 p.m. until close. For a first course, try the spiced eggplant chips layered with a rich date and tamarind sauce, or the chickpeas, potato and pomegranate seeds zapped with yogurt and tamarind sauce. Main courses include tandoori-braised ribs with mustard seed-accented potato hash and Indian coleslaw as well as duck sooley with local spaghetti squash, blue cheese, dried cranberries and pistachios. The non-smoking restaurant also has a good late-night tapas-style menu and fun drinks like the Bollywood---ginger-infused pomegranate juice and champagne.
