Mariscos Mazatlan Description:
We always feel as though we're in Mexico---which is, in fact, just a few miles away---when we come to this Chula Vista spot. The menu focuses on the Mexican Pacific Coast, and except for the carne asada, most of what we like here is from the sea. The salsa has a nice bite and the tortillas arrive fresh and hot. We're partial to the Seven Seas seafood soup and nearly anything that has shrimp in it, including a particularly garlicky version of mojo de ajo. Ceviche, crab enchiladas and cod filets prepared in a variety of ways are other triumphs of this restaurant's busy kitchen, along with a fusion dish featuring salmon with mole. Beer, wine and wine margaritas add a little fuel to a tasty meal.
