Hartstone Inn Description:
You might never want to leave this lovely inn in tony, seaside Camden and you might not need to. Inn guests dine each morning on delightful pastries, waffles and seasonal egg dishes; all are welcome at dinner for a five-course meal during most of the week with a bistro menu on Mondays and Tuesdays. Try the honey-seared duck breast with musty sweet roasted beets to start followed by the Maine lobster and sweet potato chowder made from ingredients nurtured right nearby. A salmon encrusted with sweet potato uses another Maine ingredient---blueberries---in the beurre blanc and there's a touch of the exotic in coconut soufflé with vanilla bean crème anglaise. The wine list covers California quite well and there is a good selection of German wines, rare on a New England list. Have a walk around the lovely grounds after dinner and come back for a drink in the inn.
