Imagine a New Orleans-style screen-door-swinging eatery that's adorned with twinkly lights and Mardi Gras trappings. Now kick it up a bit with a grand old bar, a veranda, multiple dining rooms and a lively crowd, and you've got Maple Tree Inn. Alligator and oyster gumbo is a must-try among starters, but the fried dill pickles are a winner, too. Afterward, we like to get our teeth into the shrimp Creole or a saucy pork chop---with a few of the many microbrews on tap. Of course, the boiled dinners (crawfish is one of our favorites)---not to mention red beans and rice---also deliver. For dessert, we favor the bread pudding with bourbon sauce.
