This Bloomington establishment has a market counter for sandwiches, salads, daily soups and a selection of signature bottled sauces, jams and spice blends to enjoy at home. But there's more: FARMrestaurant utilizes fresh, indigenous ingredients to produce upscale cuisine with a global twist. Local elk loin is basted with country fruit reduction and accompanied by Gorgonzola and walnut grits, while an Asian steamer sports market vegetables, brown basmati and tahini. And it's all served in a cozy setting where hanging quilts serve as room dividers. Chef Daniel Orr, who gained his reputation on the East Coast, returned to his home state of Indiana to open this unique concept that includes a lower level bar featuring artisan pizzas and Hoosier-style tapas. There's now more than Indiana basketball and the brilliance of fall foliage to prompt an excursion to this college town.
