Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q Description:
A full parking lot is supposed to signal good food and such is the case at Jim 'N Nick's. Barbecue may have started things off, but there's much more on the slate now with an atmosphere more family restaurant than barbecue joint. There is quality traditional pork, chicken and ribs, but the huge brick pits also turn out hickory-smoked turkey and ham, homemade sausages and Angus beef brisket, less common in Alabama where pork is king of the pit. Fried catfish, rib-eye steak or a vegetable plate will please those not in the mood for barbecue in its varied forms. In addition to the usual sides, there are cinnamon apples, braised collard greens chunky with meat and macaroni and cheese. Creamed spinach and buttery homemade cheese biscuits are not to be missed. Homemade pies are prepared every day and include chocolate cream, lemon ice-box, coconut cream and pecan. A miniscule wine list is on-target to go with the food and brews include a local Good People ale. A nice touch: Servers tote the to-go orders out to the car for you.
