Mediterranean Kitchen Description:
Braids of garlic on the wall are fair warning that the stinking rose is used with great abandon in most of the Middle Eastern dishes here, many of which are refined versions of classic Lebanese cuisine. Tempting appetizers include house-made spanakopita and a mezze tray with creamy dips, olives, tomatoes and cucumbers. But don't overindulge on starters because dinners are generous and include soup, rice, pita bread, garlic dip and Turkish coffee. Choose among beef, chicken and lamb in a variety of dishes, such as shish kebabs and shwarma. North African couscous can be ordered with vegetables, lamb, or a seafood combination of sautéed prawns, scallops and calamari. We suggest the signature Farmer's Dish, which features a mountain of tangy, marinated chicken wings charcoal-grilled and served with a pungent lemon-garlic cream sauce. Vegetarian items are also available, including stuffed grape leaves. Finish with a cup of thick Turkish coffee and a piece of baklava.
