Duck de Chine Description:
The little brick cottage compound, 1949 – The Hidden City, is one of Beijing's oddest projects. A design of Hong Kong's Elite Concepts (responsible for revamping that city's Lan Kwai Fong bar district), this landscaped project in the middle of skyscraper land is a pleasant break from the concrete jungle but rather out of sync with the rest of the city. Duck de Chine, the standout restaurant, is a moody, romantic spot in dark green marble and overstated wood. Come here lunchtime for some sunshine and a full dim sum menu---including duck dumplings. Or come in the evening, stop by the Bollinger Champagne bar, then watch your bird being roasted on the open fire. Enjoy the Ultimate Duck Set which snips, garnishes and roasts all parts of the duck in ways you've never imagined (duck feet with mustard sauce, for example).
