Marine Polis Sushi Land Description:
The first in the Japanese fast food chain of Kaiten-zushi or conveyor belt sushi, the Beaverton store still remains the best of the chain. The restaurant is small so seating is limited to only a few booths and several bar/counter seats, but the food is prepared fast and fresh so customers can get what they want and go, resulting in fast moving lines. While there is a menu, it is much more fun to just watch as the dishes pass by and grab what you want. They also have a selection of "gringo" sushi (cooked) for the unenlightened.
This is where parents bring their children to teach them about sushi---like the bunny hill or wading pool. The sushi is safe and edible, if not terribly fancy. But don't be deterred. The kitchen will also take special requests from hopeless sushi snobs. Color-coded dishes cruise around the restaurant on a horseshoe-shaped conveyor belt that's fun for all ages. Diners simply snag whatever appeals as plates cruise past. Prices are very reasonable---a few bucks per plate---and the quality of food reflects the prices. But more good news: kids can sample nearly everything without making a big dent in a grown-up's wallet. Also located at Lloyd District, the Pearl District, Bridgeport, and the Clackamas Promenade.
