Basil's Mediterranean Café Description:
For two decades, this Buckhead bistro has set the benchmark for comfortable, casual dining. The former residence turned restaurant has small dining rooms tucked into what once were living rooms and bedrooms. We find the most appealing seating on the front deck, which has both a sheltered and an exposed section. Basil's food is Mediterranean---the hummus and baba ghanouj are freshly made and classically seasoned. But the menu also explores the range of Mediterranean fare, going all the way from Spanish paella to Greek shrimp with feta (served, curiously, over jasmine rice). Grilled salmon on ratatouille picks up a French twist. This is simple, fresh, tasty fare that won't knock your socks off but it won't leave you disappointed either. The wine list is serviceable.
