Zingerman's Roadhouse Description:
Zingerman's Deli's sit-down restaurant, featuring American favorites with Zingerman's own twists.
Live music and dancing Wednesday evenings on the patio, weather permitting.
Imagine a job that required you to visit small, out-of-the-way farms in the rural regions of France, Spain and Italy. Dream of cheesemakers, many fourth or fifth generation, who fashion milk from these animals into small artisan cheeses, each with a distinct look and taste. Most of us will never have that job, but we can enjoy the fruits of that extensive labor here. Through the years, the original Zingerman's store has grown to encompass a café next door (as well as a bakery and a dairy-cheesemaking facility in other locations). Here, baskets are loaded with freshly baked, European style breads, and shelves overflow with ingredients like pasta from around the globe. Olives, sausages, deli meats and, of course, cheeses, fill refrigerated cases. But there's lots more to love: the restaurant also showcases the skills of executive chef Alex Young, who moved back from California to his home town to craft a menu of classics like macaroni and cheese, green bean and wild mushroom casserole (complete with a homemade onion ring garnish) and fried chicken, crab cakes, Carolina barbecue and, as unbelievable as it sounds, memorable corn dogs.

Review :
Well known and beloved restaurant, hate to be the negative, but the food is subpar. Group had the clam chowder (single note: bacon), enchiladas (a waste of good ingredients that amount to nothing), creamed corn (not creamed - how do you mess that up?), a salad (ala salad bag), corn dogs (excellent dog, but the corn shell thin, no crunch, cooled too much waiting to be served so turned out chewy), & mashed potatoes (served complimentary for the creamed corn fiasco: were way over buttered but came with a solid white gravy). If this were a training school for cafeteria food, may be my pen wouldn't bleed so, but the only reason this place survives is the excellent service, homey atmosphere, borrowed reputation from the deli & limited competition.
Dum tempus habemus, operemur bonum
