Orso Ristorante Description:
Dark red walls; small, sparkling chandeliers dripping from a high ceiling; and glowing table lamps create Orso's European atmosphere. Cocktail fans will enjoy the lounge, one of Anchorage's best, pouring a wide variety of specialty drinks and liqueurs. On the menu, local specialties mix with global inspiration. Start with savory, shared appetizers from the "Fresh Fare Specials." We suggest the flight of artisan cheeses---three cheeses, nuts, toast points and dried fruit drizzled with local honey---along with Norton Sound king crab, steamed and served with drawn butter. There are plenty of classic Italian entrées, but who would pass up the early summer special of freshly caught, grilled Copper River king salmon served over roasted butternut squash, asparagus tips and balsamic mushrooms? Remember to save room for sweet finishes, which may include tiramisu and molten chocolate cake. There's also a sizable wine list, along with locally brewed beer from the Glacier Brewhouse, Orso's sister restaurant conveniently located right next door. Service is knowledgeable.
