La Salita Restaurant Description:
La Salita, which means "the little parlor," is one of the best traditional, home-style New Mexican restaurants in town. Like many of Albuquerque's little joints, it doesn't look like much from the outside---or from the inside, for that matter---but the food is consistent. Try La Salita's signature chiles rellenos, which are made fresh. The batter is crisp and the richness of the cheese mellows the spiciness of the chilies. In winter, the carne adovada---lean pork marinated in red chile sauce and slowly baked until tender---warms your belly, especially inside a sopapilla. The same goes for the shredded turkey that also fills its enchiladas, as big in flavor as the portion is large. Good news for vegetarians: both the red and the green chile are made without meat.
