Jack Sprat's Restaurant Description:
Drive south to Girdwood, Anchorage's winter ski resort just 45 minutes away, for a breath of fresh air, and to find a wood and glass A-frame cabin nestled into its alpine surroundings. The motto here---"Fat & Lean World Cuisine"---sets the stage for an eclectic menu with a little something for everyone. Seasonal changes keep things interesting for visitors and locals alike. We've enjoyed appetizers such as yam fries served with aïoli and rice wraps made with soba noodles, spring vegetables and an orange supreme cucumber Thai chili sauce. Our favorite entrées include the organic chicken, a blend of braised chicken breast, Sicilian caponata and sautéed spinach; the halibut wrap; and the Blue Mesa Ranch burger, a satisfying half-pound Black Angus beef burger served with smoked onion confit, bacon, tomato slices, greens, and yam fries. A diverse kids' menu with choices ranging from steamed edamame to Jack's Mac, cheddar cheese paired with quinoa noodles, will please hip parents. Beer fans will find both German and Alaskan beers on tap, while the wine selection is affordable with a nice variety. Ask to see the "20 for 20" list, which features 20 bottles priced at $20 each.
